10. Rhythm
Master Arcana

Rhythm describes a constant, living pulse that moves throughout the Universe—a continuous pattern of movement, transformation, withdrawal, and return. This rhythm can be witnessed in nature, felt within the body, and recognised in the unfolding of everyday life. It is neither random nor isolated; it is an orderly and enduring principle that shapes both the world around us and the landscape of our inner experience.
Rhythm reveals itself in countless forms: the turning of day into night, the succession of the seasons, the phases of the Moon, the rise and fall of the tides, menstrual cycles, and the Sun’s yearly journey across the sky. We may also perceive it in the steady beat of the heart, the measured swing of a pendulum, the shifting character of the weather, and the tempo of music. It is present in the ebb and flow associated with celestial and natural forces, reminding us that all life is held within patterns of expansion and contraction; activity and rest; attraction and repulsion; emergence and return.
To work consciously with rhythm, begin by observing the cycles that move through nature and through your own life. Notice how these patterns influence your body, your energy, your emotions, and your circadian rhythm. As an embodied being upon the Earth, you exist within an intimate relationship with the planet and its natural cycles. The more attentively you recognise these movements, the more deeply you may begin to feel aligned, balanced, and attuned to the world around you.
Rather than resisting the movement of life, consider cultivating a personal rhythm that cooperates with it. Honour the changing seasons, the shifting light of day, the phases of the Moon, and the changing needs of your body. Allow yourself to recognise when it is time to act, when it is time to pause, and when it is time to release what has completed its journey. By moving with these patterns instead of struggling against them, you create greater ease, receptivity, and openness within your experience.
Power prompts: Rhythm is the pulse of life—the ceaseless heartbeat of the Universe moving through all things in an eternal dance. It is mirrored in the simple act of breathing: drawing the light inward until it fills your chest, then releasing the darkness that is ready to depart.
Where have you mistaken a temporary low point for a permanent reality?
What would become possible if you trusted that every ending makes room for a beginning?
What personal cycle keeps returning, and what lesson may it be offering you?
Affirmation: I am synchronised within the rhythms of life and Mother Earth.
