19. CHILD / INNER-CHILD SYNTHESIS
Embracing Your Inner-child
Nurturing your inner-child is essential for personal growth and emotional healing. Engage in joyful activities that bring out your childlike excitement and sense of play. Take inspiration from beloved characters such as Peppa Pig—run and jump in muddy puddles or find unique ways to experience playful moments. These simple acts of joy help reconnect you with your inner-child, allowing you to experience life with wonder and spontaneity.
Significance of drawing this card
Drawing this card may also symbolise
• a baby being born
• mindful and nurturing parenting
• or the need to nurture, care for and heal your inner-child
• dealing with the wounded inner-child within someone else
For deeper insights, refer to the other cards drawn during your reading.
The need for nurturing and healing
Every child needs nurturing, and each of us carries an inner-child that may require healing and care. Childhood trauma can cause aspects of the self to splinter off, forming parts of our shadow. People may unconsciously project unaddressed inner-child wounds onto others, including their own children, often without realising it until flashbacks or a moment of brave self-awareness triggers them.
Balancing nurturing and resilience
Awareness of unresolved trauma might lead to overprotective parenting too (the helicopter parent) and can inadvertently restrict a child's ability to make informed decisions and develop resilience and independence. For children to develop healthily, it is essential to balance providing care and promoting resilience.
Deeper meaning and healing process
Fragmented parts of our consciousness can become trapped at the trauma's time point, resulting in recurring negative patterns as adults. These patterns are often driven by the splintered-off inner child.
Healing may require regression or past-life therapy to revisit and process hidden trauma, bringing adult wisdom to the experience. Reintegration of these aspects is challenging but crucial for self-protection and allowing your adult self to nurture your inner-child. Please seek medical guidance on this.
Emotional release and forgiveness
When processing deeply buried memories, individuals may experience anger towards their parents because of failures in their safeguarding. Recognising that parents usually did the best they could with the knowledge they had is useful. It is possible that the source of trauma for some people has been their parents, including situations involving criminal behaviour. While it may be essential to hold them accountable by utilising appropriate channels, it is equally important to release any pent-up anger you may have, and further, to protect both yourself and those around them from any psychological harm. Forgiveness helps you to heal and recover, which empowers you to no longer see yourself as a victim, without implying that you are excusing what has happened in the past.
Additional insights
Be mindful not to avoid issues that need direct inner work. The process of healing and reintegration can create a "kaleidoscope effect," where broken pieces come together to form beauty. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!
There is a pure connection between your Higher-Self and a fully integrated inner-child.
Integration and abundance
A healed, balanced inner-child allows love and abundance to flow easily, quickly manifesting your thoughts into reality. Embracing all emotions, including tears, is vital—emotions are Universal "energy in motion" and carry immense power.
Healing task
As a practical healing exercise, write letters to your parents about distressing issues until you reach tears. Allow your emotions to flow freely through both writing and tears. Crucially, do not send or re-read these letters. Instead, burn them and ask for help from the Universe and Higher-Self to transmute any negative energy.
Repeat this ritual as needed to support ongoing healing.
