66. PRACTICE MEDITATION
Consider adopting a practice such as meditation, mindfulness, exercise, yoga, tai chi, or something similar, in order to cultivate your inner awareness and strengthen your mind.
Meditation and spiritual practices, which occupy the mind, come in many forms, letting the unconscious become more accessible.
Meditation – for psychic development
Cleansing the spirit and opening the third eye! This is a simple, disciplined meditation to do at home, by yourself.
• Make sure you have a half-hour window with no interruptions. Switch your phone off. To improve the atmosphere, you can play soft and relaxing music designed for meditation, or you can remain in silence.
• Sit comfortably at a table with a lit candle in front of you. Please be safe! Keeping your mind fully engaged, focus on the candle for a few minutes. Then close your eyes and observe the imprint of the flame on your mind's eye inner screen for a few minutes until the imprint of the flame fades. Repeat this process several times.
• The intention of this meditation is to remain focused, so if you notice your mind drifting off, bring your attention back to the task.
• When you have repeated the candle exercise several times and are very used to it, you can then start deep conscious breathing simultaneously with the candle procedure. Breathe in 1-2-3, hold 1-2-3, breathe out 1-2-3.
• Doing these together is enough to start with. When you have practiced this in several sessions, you can then leave the candle discipline to breathe consciously whilst imagining breathing in light and flooding your heart space and body with the light. The Ascended Masters and higher guides, who are eager to collaborate with you, can use your imagination and inner screen to communicate with you, so the candle exercise is especially useful for initiating and enhancing clairvoyance.
Why meditate?
The act of meditation activates a higher level of consciousness, allowing you to take back the control of your own mind. Activating this higher level of consciousness allows you to view the content of your mind and the thoughts you produce.
Through the practice of meditation, you can establish a connection with your higher self, and as you continue to meditate, your personality will gradually harmonise with your higher self.
Accessing your psychic gifts
By practicing meditation, you are allowing yourself to become more receptive to the psychic gifts that you already have within you, thus allowing them to flourish. All people are born possessing them, as they represent a natural, inherent capability. Regardless of the attempts by television and Hollywood to exaggerate our inherent psychic capabilities, these abilities are not supernatural or mysterious. They are a normal part of us.
Meditation connects you with your spirit guides, creativity, and inner peace and love. The inner narrative and uncontrolled thought processes are there from our childhood training, the social conditionings imposed on us, and our experiences. Often these thought processes are unconscious.
Challenging the inner narrative
Practicing observing your mind's chattering in everyday life highlights unconscious thought processes and over time and gives you back the control of your own mind, enabling you to challenge the inner narrative, empowering you away from being a negative reaction to a negative mindset.
Other benefits of practicing mindfulness or meditation
Meditation increases relaxation and facilitates instant stress relief, more enhanced concentration skills; a more positive outlook; looking and feeling younger; more creativity; greater spontaneity; deeper emotional security; more energy; clearer ideas about what you want; enhanced critical thinking skills and of course link you further in for intuitive guidance.
Helping yourself with brain rewiring
Part of the brain rewiring that humanity is presently experiencing is in the connections between the right and left hemispheres of our brains. You can help this along by using your non-preferred hand or leg in day-to-day activities to strengthen the connections in the brain, so becoming more ambidextrous.
Everything you do can be meditative, and the brain is but a tool
Realistically, everything you do can be meditation practice through keeping your full conscious and sensory awareness into what you are doing, and when you notice your mind drifting off, bring your awareness back. Through this, your mind learns that you, the consciousness that governs the functions of your mind, are the principal authority.
Shadow work and the gradual exposure technique
If you become upset by something because of the consequences of a past trauma, causing you to lapse into unconsciousness and worry, there is one additional exercise that can be really helpful to use. When you notice this occurring, bring the full light of your conscious awareness back into it and say, "This is an illusion. I AM stronger than this (whatever it is)."
This is not that your experience is not valid or real, but this is part of the shadow work in clearing the psyche, allowing more light to shine through you.
Sit with it, and you may feel the burning responses of the emotion within your body, but do not be afraid to stay in it and really feel it, observe it within your body and when it subsides take that as a victory. By engaging like this, you will come to realise that it gradually loses its ability to grip and control you.
