56. Role model / Life coach

You are shaped by the choices you make, which is why it matters to decide, consciously and deliberately, who you want to be. When you observe and practise the qualities you admire in others, they gradually become part of your own character. Over time, the way you think, behave, and respond begins to reflect the person you have chosen to be. In many ways, the greatest barriers you face are not found outside you, but in the limitations, you have accepted inside.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) - Life coaching often draws on neuro-linguistic programming to help people understand and model the behaviours, attitudes, and qualities associated with success. It can also help identify and release the inner beliefs that hold you back.
Role models - Children learn far more from what their parents do than from what they are told. Advice may be forgotten, but behaviour leaves indelible impressions. Children do much of their learning via emulating what they see. By acting with patience, responsibility, confidence, and compassion, parents become living examples of the values they hope to pass on. In this way, their everyday actions serve as a form of coaching, quietly guiding their children’s development.
Personal growth can also change the relationships around you. As you develop, become more confident, or begin pursuing a different direction in life, some people may grow distant. Although this can be painful, it is often a natural part of transformation. Not everyone is ready to change at the same time, and some people will only take action when they discover their own reasons and motivation.
You can encourage, support, and inspire others, but you cannot grow on their behalf. Offer help in ways they are willing to receive, while remembering that you are not required to tolerate jealousy, resentment, or hostility from anyone who refuses to take any responsibility for their own development.
Imposter syndrome and overcoming it - Imposter syndrome can cause you to question your achievements, dismiss your abilities, and fear that others will eventually discover you are not as capable as they believe. These feelings can arise even when your accomplishments provide unambiguous evidence of your competence. This may affect your career, relationships, confidence, and willingness to pursue new opportunities. Success alone does not always silence the voice of self-doubt. Many successful people are challenged with Imposter Syndrome.
When imposter feelings appear, begin by recognising them for what they are: a defunct pattern of thought, rather than an objective truth. Challenge the inner critic by examining the evidence and asking whether your conclusions are fair or realistic. Reframe the story you are telling yourself, replacing harsh self-judgement with a more balanced and compassionate perspective.
Make time to acknowledge your progress. Celebrate your achievements, both large and small, and keep a record of positive feedback, completed goals, challenges you have overcome, and moments when your efforts produced meaningful results. This collection of evidence can remind you, especially during moments of uncertainty, that your success is not an accident. You have earned it.
